A ghostly black dog is said to haunt the road between Vange and Fobbing, near where there was once an avenue of trees by White Hall Farm. The shadows cast by the trees likely contributed to the eerie sightings.

The phantom hound is sometimes seen crossing the road, a fleeting dark shape in the night, adding to the area's many chilling local legends.
