One of the quietest but most striking modern ghost reports from Ramsden Bellhouse comes from St Mary’s Church. A visitor placing flowers on a family grave near the porch noticed a girl dressed entirely in black, kneeling by the hedge and facing away from the church doors. The sight seemed strange enough that she pointed it out to her friend — and in that instant, the figure vanished. There was no movement, no sound, and no sign of anyone leaving the churchyard.

The witness returned to St Mary’s many times afterwards but never saw the girl again. The moment remained a single, unexplained encounter: a silent figure kneeling by the hedge, present for only a heartbeat before disappearing into the stillness of the churchyard.
