One of Wickford’s more recent ghost reports comes from the Halls Corner end of Nevendon Road, where two witnesses waiting at the bus stop heard a sudden bang followed by a man’s scream. The noise came from the direction of the new care home then under construction.

 

When they approached the site, they saw a dark figure moving quickly through the unfinished corridors, darting from one shadowed hallway to another. With no workers present at that hour, the sight left both witnesses shaken.
