A house on The Wick was occupied for six years, during which the residents reported repeated unexplained activity centred primarily around the staircase and landing. A freestanding shadow was seen on multiple occasions on or near the stairs, with no identifiable source. The same area became associated with a persistent sense of being watched, particularly from the bedroom doorway at the top of the stairs.

Inside the living room, an Xbox 360 Kinect system regularly detected an additional person in the room despite only the two residents being present. Alongside this, the occupants experienced unexplained footsteps, sudden bangs, and disembodied voices calling their names. These incidents occurred when the residents were on different floors of the house, each assuming the other had spoken, only to confirm they had not. The pattern was consistent and repeated over time.

During the period when activity was at its highest, both residents experienced sleep paralysis and frequent nightmares. They also reported object displacement: items would go missing and later be found in drawers or cupboards where they would not normally be placed.

The experiences were not shared with others while the couple lived in the property. After moving out, they asked friends for their impressions of the house. The responses were broadly similar, with several people stating they “didn’t like” the property, specifically mentioning discomfort around the bathroom and the staircase — the same areas associated with the reported activity.
