The old Union Workhouse, now converted into modern apartments, is said to hold on to its past through ghostly tales. The nearby street, Grey Lady Place, takes its name from a spirit seen in the workhouse—a chilling reminder of its former life.

The kitchens, where homeless people were once allowed to warm up, are rumoured to be haunted by one of these past visitors. Today, objects are said to still be mysteriously moved around in this area.

Perhaps most chillingly, residents of the new apartments have reported waking up to the sight of a young girl standing at the foot of their beds.
