Ramsden Bellhouse is one of the borough’s oldest rural parishes, a place where the lanes, fields and churchyard have held their shape for centuries. Unlike some of the surrounding villages, it has never gathered a long list of ghost stories, but the quiet atmosphere of St Mary’s and the stillness around the old houses have always given the area a certain weight. Only one modern sighting has ever been recorded here — a brief, unsettling moment in the churchyard — and it stands alone as the village’s only known haunting.
