On Christmas Day 1951, a chilling report from Mr. B. Murray of Hope House, otherwise known as Tower House Preparatory School, was published in the local press. While he was alone in the 300-year-old building, a ship's bell mysteriously pealed at noon. A few days later, he heard footsteps outside, but found no one there.

The strange events continued, culminating in the school's piano playing by itself, with no one touching it. Mr. Murray declared that these manifestations were authentic. A local legend adds to the mystery, claiming that a former resident of nearby Stockwell Hall still exercises his dogs on the school grounds, suggesting a ghostly presence from the past.
